About the studio

Built by craftspeople who care about the last 5%

Hearthline began in 2011 with two people, one van and a simple conviction: a renovation should feel exciting, not exhausting. Fifteen years and 640 projects later, that has not changed.

Our story

From two trades to a forty-person studio

Marcus Hale was a carpenter. Priya Nair was an interior designer. They kept meeting on jobs where the drawings ignored how a room would actually be built, and where the build ignored what the client had been promised. In 2008 they stopped complaining and started their own studio.

The idea was straightforward: keep design and construction under one roof, so the person who draws the kitchen is in the room when it is installed. No finger-pointing between architect and builder, no "that's not what the plans said". Just one team, accountable from first sketch to final snag list.

Today Hearthline is thirty-two people — designers, project managers, carpenters, tilers, electricians and finishers. We still take on single-room projects, and we still sweat the last 5% that most builders leave behind.

What we stand for

Four principles behind every project

Honesty first

If a budget will not stretch, we say so before you commit — not after demolition begins.

Craft over speed

We schedule enough time to do the detail work properly, because that is what you live with.

One point of contact

A named project manager answers your questions — never a call centre, never a void.

A home left liveable

Dust barriers and daily clean-downs keep the rest of your house usable throughout.

Our team

The people behind every build

Designers, carpenters and project managers who have worked together long enough to finish each other's jobs — and each other's sentences.
